Rehab patient heaps praise on Peachtree Centre

Dear Editor:

Recently I found myself in the hospital after suffering a heart attack. I was not feeling well and thought it was just a cold.

I was very fortunate that my son soon returned home even though he found me sleeping and unable to wake me. He immediately called 911 and I was airlifted to Spartanburg.

After two weeks, I finally awakened and was told I had suffered a heart attack. At only 59 years of age, I really thought this would be the last thing I would be dealing with.

One of the nurses encouraged me to seek Inpatient Short-term rehab before returning home. She thought this would be best for me to regain my strength and receive continued nursing care in order to return home safely. She also recommended Peachtree Centre in Gaffney. At first I was hesitant. I just knew I would be fine to return home. However, after several attempts to walk, resulting in falls, I decided to heed her advice and go to Peachtree Centre for rehab.

After a few days at Peachtree Centre, I was so happy I had listened to the nurse. Everyone at Peachtree, including administration, nursing, therapists, cooks and housekeeping, went out of their way to take care of me and make sure I had what I needed.

Their positive attitudes helped me to stay motivated and driven to get back home safely. They taught me the things I needed to know to return home safely and to get stronger faster. They sincerely wanted to treat me body, mind and soul and wanted the best for me. These people have a very special gift for lifting not only your health, but mostly your spirit. I felt as if I had my very own guardian angels watching over me.

I was so impressed with the full-size gym we used each day during my rehab. They had almost anything you could imagine and so many different, creative ways to get my therapy treatments done. But the thing that stood out the most to me was how compassionate the staff was. The newest buildings, décor, and advanced equipment can never replace compassionate people; and they have compassionate staff.

What I looked forward to the most was meal time. The food is just like home-cooked food; far better than I can cook at home. I’m going to miss meal time. I’m also going to miss someone doing my laundry for me and the hundreds of cable channels provided to me. I’m so thankful to have chosen Peachtree as my home away from home to complete my rehab and to have met all the wonderful people I have met. I hope I don’t need that service again, but if I do, I know I’ll be returning to Peachtree Centre. I highly recommend them to anyone who may find themselves in need of inpatient rehab.

Thank you, Peachtree Centre, for continuing to care from the heart.

Forever Grateful,
Gloria Lawson
Gaffney, SC
