Vikings upset Gaffney

"We stunk it up."

That's how Gaffney boys basketball coach Mark Huff summed up his team's 69-58 road loss at Spartanburg Tuesday night.

The Indians are now tied with Dorman atop the region standings at 6-1. Gaffney hosts the Cavs on Friday with the region title on the line.

Bradley Childers led the Indians with 18 points, while Ladarius Foster had 15 and Stan Ellis had 14.

Sean Jenkins had a game-high 26 points for Spartanburg, which jumped to a quick 19-10 lead.

The Vikings extended their lead to 32-19 at the break and led 47-32 at the end of three quarters.

"We were never in it," Huff said.

Although the loss was disappointing, it had no impact on the region championship.

"We lost but it still comes down to one game on Friday," the Gaffney coach said.

The Lady Indians beat Spartanburg 51-42 behind 17 points by Jasmine Oglesby.
