Gaffney’s Rice headed to play at Georgia Military

Ledger Sports Editor

Cam Rice will be playing for Georgia next season.

Not that Georgia. Rice committed to Georgia Military College over the holidays, according to the Gaffney High coaching staff.

The Bulldogs finished 8-2 this season. Rice played both running back and outside linebacker for the Indians. However, it appears he will stick to defense for the Bulldogs.

Despite playing only seven games on defense, Rice finished third on the team in sacks with five. He also had a team-high five forced fumbles.

The Bulldogs play other juco programs.

After two years, Rice will likely be a Division I recruit, and would have three years of eligibility left.

Bert Williams is the head coach of the Bulldogs.

Rice also was recruited by high-profile juco colleges like Coffeyville and Butler.

Defensive end Hunter Decker is expected to take an official visit to UNC-Pembroke.

Decker missed a good portion of the season with injuries but was considered the emotional leader of the unit.

Defensive tackle Noah Owens is visiting Lincoln College in Chester, Pa., this weekend.

He also will likely visit Seton Hill College, a school outside of Pittsburgh.

Limestone is still in the hunt for the pair, as well.

Quarterback Tyshun Sarratt is still uncommitted, and there is no word where the talented thrower will play his college football.

The national signing day is the first Wednesday in February.

There was also an early signing date this year in December.
