Beach, Blues and BBQ

In conjunction with the South Carolina Peach Festival and featuring music by John “Soup” Campbell, food by Boonjug’s, and drinks available through Hollywood Productions, the Cherokee County History and Arts Museum is having an evening of Beach, Blues and BBQ. Nanda Bedenbaugh will also have a live performance during the evening.

This fundraising event will be held on July 22 from 5 until 9 p.m. Shaggers, families or anyone who loves to have a good time under the stars is encouraged to bring your lawn chair and attend. There’s a dance floor where you can enjoy some dancing and plenty of food and drink being sold. Please don’t bring coolers.

The museum is located at 301 College Drive. In case of rain the event will be held inside. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.

Joint Pain Seminar

Do you suffer from hip, knee or shoulder pain? If so, Mary Black Health System-Gaffney invites you to attend a free seminar with members from our Joint Care Program team where you will learn about different treatment options for arthritis.

GHS Class of ’76 Reunion

The Gaffney High Class of 1976 will have its 40th year reunion on Friday, Sept. 23, and Saturday, Sept. 24. The reunion party and dinner will be on Sept. 24, 6 p.m., at the Gaffney Visitors Center & Art Gallery, 210 W. Fredrick St. Dinner will be served from 7:30 - 9 p.m. ONLY. DJ Moecom will provide music and take us back down memory lane and Kingdom Photography will be onsite to capture the event.

The cost is $60 per couple (include the name of your guest or spouse), $30 per person. Female classmates please include your maiden name. Make check or money order payable to: Renee Kirby 271 Old Race Track Rd. Gaffney, S.C. 29340. This is a pre-paid event you must RSVP by August 5. Be sure to include a return address so you can receive your RSVP confirmation.

Other events for the weekend include: Friday morning assembly, 9 a.m., at Gaffney High, followed by lunch at Daddy Joe’s in the back room.

Cherokee County Bee Association

The Cherokee County Bess Association will not have a Bee Club in July.

Fundraiser

A fundraiser for Michelle Manley, who has been diagnosed with breast cancer, will be held at the Garden Temple Assembly of God in Blacksburg on July 16 from 3-6 p.m. A carwash will be held for donations and hot dog plates will be for sale for $6. There will also be a bake sale.

Foster Care Community Information Meeting

lEveryday extraordinary people walk alongside us. We see them taking acre of the most vulnerable of us and giving to those less fortunate. Have you wondered lately how you could make a difference?

Have you considered foster care or respite foster care?South Carolina Youth Advocate Program (SCYAP) will host a foster care information meeting on July 19 from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Cherokee County Public Library, 300 E. Rutledge Ave. Foster parents receive a monthly stipend, free training, 24/7 support, crisis intervention and access to a treatment coordinator and licensing staff.

Seven Weeks of Prayer and Fasting

Greater Gaffney Ministerial Association and the Interdenominational Association are coming together for seven weeks for prayer and fasting, starting Monday, July 11, from noon until 1 p.m.

We are seeking God to find out what He would have us do together. We understand that if we come together in unity, pray and seek Gods’ face, He will consider our prayers and heal our land (I Chron. 7:14).

We are also wanting to move into a season of “Sharing the Pulpit” where churches will consider removing barriers of tradition, denominationalism and color, and speak the Word of God in truth and love, where brothers and dwell together in unity (Psalm 133:1). It is there where God commands the blessing!   • The Ushers Ministry of Bethel Baptist Church, 218 West Dr. L. M. Rosemond Lane, will celebrate its anniversary on July 17 during the 10 a.m. worship service with the Ushers in charge of the pulpit services. The guest speaker for this occasion will be Rev. Steve Allen, associate minister of Piney Grove Baptist Church in Cowpens, S.C. Everyone is cordially invited to come and share in this special service. Dr. Carol McFadden, president; Dr. James W.   • Cherokee Falls Baptist Church will hold Vacation Bible School July 17-21 from 6-8 p.m. nightly. The theme is “Submerged Psalms 139: 23-24, dive deep with God through Bible study. He will search and lead us in the way everlasting.” Ages 5 years old and up are invited to attend, nursery will not be provided.   • Limestone Baptist Church will celebrate their 144th Anniversary on Sunday, July 17 during the 11 a.m. worship service. The guest speaker will be Rev. Johnny Golden, Pastor of New Unity Baptist Church of Baltimore, MD. Rev. Golden will be accompanied with choirs and members of the New Unity Church. The pastor of Limestone Baptist Church, Rev. Michael Golden and Ms. Pondrienna Stevenson, chair of the anniversary committee, invites the public attend.
