Benefit comedy show

  • Midway Baptist Church will sponsor “Comedy for a Cause” on Saturday, Aug. 22, at 6 p.m. in the church’s Family Life Center. Music will be provided by The Reggie Saddler Family, Ashby Blakely and The Messengers. Comedy antics will be provided by Dr. Bobby Morrow, Turkey Craig, Coroner Dennis Fowler, Coach Mark Huff and the Singing Judge Jack Allison. All proceeds go to benefit Back Pack Buddies. Church events

  • Youngs Grove Baptist Church, located at 222 Youngs Grove Road in Blacksburg, will conclude its annual homecoming and revival services tonight, Aug. 19 starting promptly at 7 p.m. The speaker for the occasion is Dr. Jamaal Edwards of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Forest City, N.C.
  • Shady Grove Baptist Church will conclude its revival services from tonight, Aug. 19, at 7 p.m.
  • Please join the Macedonia Baptist Church family for the dedication of the new Youth and Children’s Education Building on Sunday, Aug. 23. A service of worship and dedication will take place at 9:30 a.m., while an open house for the new building will take place at 10:30 a.m. till noon and 2-4 p.m. The church is located at 216 Macedonia Rd.   • The gospel music group ‘The Pathfinders’ hailing from Mount Holly, N.C., will be in concert at Broad River Baptist Church in Blacksburg on Sunday, Aug. 23. Services will begin at 10:45 a.m.
  • Buford Street United Methodist Church is sponsoring a Lowcountry Boil fundraiser Saturday, Aug. 22 from 5-7 p.m. in the church Family Life Center. Tickets are available at the church and from some of its members. The cost is $5 for children ages 5-11, $10 for those between the ages of 12 to 15, and $25 for all 16 years of age and older.
  • The Helping Hands Ministry of Bethel Baptist Church, located at 218 W. Dr. L.M. Rosemond Lane, will be giving away free clothing on Saturday, Aug. 22 from noon to 1 p.m. in the foyer of the church gym. All in need are welcome to come by.
  • Annual Women’s Day Services will be held Sunday, Aug. 23, during the 10 a.m. worship service at Bethel Baptist Church, located at 218 W. Dr. L.M. Rosemond Lane. All ladies are asked to wear white. The theme for the event is “My Sister, Use the Weapon of Prayer During Your Spiritual Warfare,” with the key scripture coming from II Corinthians 10:4. Music will be rendered by the Bethel women’s choir, with the Rev. Angelia Early of Concord Baptist Church serving as guest speaker for the occasion.

Church seeking pianist
