Limestone cheerleading earns bid to nationals at NCA Camp

Limestone College cheerleading squad attended a National Cheerleaders Association camp held at Furman University last weekend and earned a Silver Paid Bid to the 2016 NCA College Cheerleading Nationals.

Limestone beat out Clemson, Furman, Wofford and a handful of others in the Game Day Run Off Competition at the end of the camp.

The Saints placed first overall in the competition, topping the Clemson co-ed squad and the Clemson all girl squad to earn a place amongst the best in the country in April when they will compete in the NCA Nationals. A Silver Paid Bid to nationals includes a greatly reduced registration fee, among other benefits.

"We are extremely excited for this opportunity to compete at the prestigious NCA College Nationals," said head coach Hailey Martin. "Our goal was to earn a Silver Paid bid to Nationals so that we could focus on attending the competition without having to worry so much about funding our trip. I am so proud of our team. They certainly made a great impression at camp."

Limestone's routine during the competition portion of camp included props and stunts that would normally be utilized during a game to entertain a crowd and enhance the overall game day atmosphere. The Saints bested their competitors by showing more crowd appeal, showmanship, better execution and other criteria which were used to judge the squads.
