CLEARING A PATH

Looking to serve their community in other ways, members of the Blacksburg Volunteer Fire Department broke out their rakes and hedge clippers on Monday evening to clean up a sidewalk on West Pine Street that had become blocked by vegetation. Fire department member Kacy Trusty, who helped spearhead the effort, said Monday’s community service project is hopefully just the first of more to come. Anyone who has an idea for a similar project in Blacksburg can e-mail the fire department at blacksburgfire@yahoo.com, call the station at (864) 839-6061, or reach out to the fire department though Facebook or Twitter.
