Mike ‘Deadeye’ Guthrie, retired from Fluor Daniel

Michael Lynn “Deadeye” Guthrie Sr., 65, of 187 Angelicus Lane, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, at his residence.

Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Barbara Painter Guthrie and son of the late C. Jack Guthrie and Jean Humphries Guthrie. Mr. Guthrie retired from Fluor Daniel, was a former Mason, loved nature, fishing, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church.

The family would like to extend special thanks to all of their friends that came by to check on and visit with Deadeye.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Michael Lynn Guthrie Jr. and wife, Anissa, of Gaffney; a daughter, Jeanne Guthrie Pearson and husband, Rick, of Gaffney; three brothers, C. Jack Guthrie III of Columbia, Joe Guthrie of Gaffney, and Billy Guthrie and wife, Janie, of Greer; a sister, Jill Thomson and husband, Tom, of Gaffney; six grandchildren, Jacob Rick Pearson, Hannah Marie Guthrie, Luke Guthrie Pearson, William Michael Guthrie, Andrew Drayton Pearson and Benjamin Whitt Guthrie; father-inlaw and mother-in-law, Drayton and Doris Painter of Gaffney; brother-in-law, Mike Painter and wife, Maria, of Gaffney; sisters-in-law, Joy Jones and husband, Dennis, of Gaffney, Gay Guthrie of Gaffney, and Cindy Painter of Gaffney; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Tim Guthrie.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 23, at 4 p.m. at Midway Baptist Church with the Rev. Vernon Craig and the Rev. Danny Emory officiating. Interment will be in the Midway Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation was held Thursday, Aug. 22, from 6-8 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Midway Baptist Church, “Youth and Children Missions Fund,” 153 Midway Road, Gaffney, SC 29341.

The family is at the residence, 187 Angelicus Lane.
