Grace Humphries, retired from Union Butterfield

Grace Ivey Humphries, 85, formerly of Union Highway, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Novant Health Gaffney Medical Center.

Born in Gaffney, she was first married to the late Marvin Peeler and then to the late John Thomas Humphries. She was the daughter of the late Lee Ivey and Minnie Baines Ivey. Retired from Union Butterfield, she was an avid farmer and a member of Camps Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving are numerous nieces and nephews; greatnieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews. Mrs. Humphries was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Peeler; and several brothers and sisters.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Alfred Ezman and Peachtree Centre Unit One for their care, love and concern.

The family will receive friends from 3-4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 4 p.m. in Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Dwight Easler and the Rev. Buddy Morehead officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Corinth Baptist Church, “Parking Lot Renovation Fund,” 190 Corinth Road, Gaffney, SC 29340.

The family is at the home of James and Carol Davis, 152 Owens Lane.
