Eddie Taylor Jr., former employee of Cherokee County School District

Gene Edward (Eddie) Taylor Jr., 55, of 414 Grace St., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Born in Kings Mountain, N.C., he was the husband of Robin Hammett Taylor and son of Gene Edward Taylor Sr. and Billie Gates Taylor of Gaffney. Mr. Taylor was a graduate of Gaffney High School and formerly employed by the Cherokee County School District. He was an avid University of South Carolina Gamecock fan and a member of Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are two daughters, Lindsey Taylor Patterson and Kendall Ann Taylor, both of Gaffney; a sister, Ann Taylor Scruggs and husband, Bill, of Cliffside, N.C.; two grandchildren, Paden Patterson and Taylor Patterson; a niece, Jessie Scruggs of Gaffney; and a great-niece, Luci.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, May 18, at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. in Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Clyde Thomas officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1449, Gaffney, SC 29342.

The family is at the home of Gene and Billie Taylor, 108 Maple Drive, Gaffney, SC 29341.
