Simply Amazing

Reality Loves Cherokee County

Reality television apparently loves Cherokee County and its residents.

On Wednesday, CBS Broadcasting announced the next cast of its popular program, "The Amazing Race," and it is now officially confirmed that two City of Gaffney firefighters will be among the teams competing for a $1 million prize.

The smiling faces of Matthew Davis and Daniel Moss, along with other lucky contestants, can now be seen on the CBS.com website, which gives details on the cast for the new season that premiers on Feb. 17 at 8 p.m.

In addition to serving as full time city firefighters, both men are also volunteer firefighters in the community.

Amazingly, Davis and Moss were among the first contestants of the new season unofficially identified by name last November on an Amazing Race fan site. A spy picture of the race in action captured a Gaffney fire emblem on their shirts, leading online sleuths to the Gaffney Fire Department website.

The duo is the most recent reality television stars with local ties, as Jay Byars and Jane Hammett - Bright took part in previous seasons of the hit CBS show "Survivor."
