Edwin Turner, 91, retired from USPS

Edwin Webb Turner, 91, formerly of 1912 Chesnee Hwy., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital.

Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of the late Marjorie Hammett Turner and son of the late Daniel and Ruth Webb Turner. Mr. Turner retired from the U.S. Postal Service, was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a member of Cherokee Creek Baptist Church. Edwin was a loving son, brother, husband, father and grandfather and a friend to all.

Surviving are a son, Joe Turner and wife, Sandy, of Gaffney; a sister, Frances Bissett of Houston, Texas; two grandchildren, Greg Turner and Jessica Turner; two great-grandchildren, Dillon Turner and Justin Turner; a special niece, Judy Allison of Mississippi; and a special nephew, Jimmy Allison of Washington, D.C.

He was preceded in death by a son, David Turner; a brother, Charles Turner; and sister, Miriam Allison.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. in Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Ashby Blakely officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.

The family is at the home of Joe and Sandy Turner, 1997 Old Post Road.
