The Tuesday Women’s Club met May 8 at 4 p.m. in Winnie Davis Hall at Limestone College. Hostesses were Diane Coggans, Laura Peeler and Dr. Gena Pooley.

The club’s programs this year focused on Cherokee County Community Indicators, which included education, public health, family and youth, crime and safety, and economic development.

Kayla Robbs, executive director of the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce, was the speaker. Ms.Robbs stated that because of our location between two metropolitan areas – Charlotte and Atlanta – Gaffney and Cherokee County are primed for economic growth. She named several businesses that have chosen to locate in the area.

In closing, she challenged all citizens of the area to work together, noting that Gaffney is a great place to live, work and raise a family.

Following the program, the outgoing president, Sharon Thompson, thanked everyone for helping make 2011-2012 a successful year for the club. She then passed the gavel to incoming president, Dr. Gena Pooley, who extended well wishes to all for a restful and relaxing summer.
