Ashley Sides went to Washington, D.C., to take part in the Junior National Young Leaders Conference. She was the only student from South Carolina in her group. While in Washington they visited the Museum of American History, Korean War Veterans Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the Capitol Hill Visitor Center, Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial, Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, and enjoyed a sleepover at the Maryland Science Center. They visited John Brown at Harper's Ferry National Historical Park in West Virginia, where they participated in historical reenactments. On your next trip out of town or tour of duty, take a copy of The Ledger along and send a picture of yourself or your group reading the newspaper to: cody@gaffneyledger.com.
