Irene Pool fun day to be held this Saturday


Local residents will have the opportunity to play with noodles, boogie boards and other pool accessories as part of this weekend's annual fun day festivities at Irene Pool. Expect nothing short of a good time at Irene Municipal Pool this weekend as the venue’s annual fun day will be held Saturday, July 16.

Sponsored by First Piedmont Federal Savings and Loan Association of Gaffney, entry on the day is free. All participants in the day’s festivities are eligible to win door prizes.

Gates open at 1:30 p.m., with events beginning at 2 p.m.

Using noodles, boogie boards and tubes, the day will be filled with fun races for swimmers, as well as those not able to swim.

A lifeguard exhibition will be held Monday, July 18, beginning at 6 p.m. Anyone can enter this event, but lifeguard training will help.

All persons ages 15 and older interested in lifeguard training can contact Boyd Meetze at (864) 487- 2736, or (864) 489-2563 prior to the event.

Irene Pool is managed by the Cherokee County Recreation Department and is open to the public Monday through Saturday from 1:30-4:50 p.m. through the end of this month. Entry is $2 per person.

Irene Pool is located at 305 W. Montgomery St.
