Richard Marx, Matt Scannell at Newberry Opera House Oct. 8

NEWBERRY – For more than 20 years, Richard Marx has consistently made his mark on the Adult Contemporary Pop/ Rock scene. He will make his first visit to the Newberry Opera House on Friday, Oct. 8, at 8 p.m.

Marx’s debut single, "Don’t Mean Nothing," and self-titled debut album kicked off his career as a solo artist in 1987 and went on to sell three million copies. His 1989 follow up CD, "Repeat Offender," became even more successful, selling over seven million copies worldwide.

In 2008, he began touring with Vertical Horizon lead singer Matt Scannell as an acoustic duo. They released a CD, "Duo," on iTunes and continue to do occasional shows together, including the Oct. 8 performance at the Newberry Opera House.

Marx donates his time and talents to a long list of worthy causes, he has performed benefit concerts and hosted events for many organizations.
