Brenda Ann Johnson

Brenda Ann Johnson, 53, of 811 W. Sumter St., Shelby, wife of Billy Ray Surratt, passed away Monday, July 26, 2010, at her residence.

Daughter of Willie Mae Johnson Parks of Shelby and the late Luther Spikes, she was born Nov. 5, 1956, in Boiling Springs, N.C. She was a member of Maple Springs Baptist Church in Shelby. She received her high school diploma from Cleveland Community College in 1979 and her CNA degree in 1983 from the nursing school of Cleveland Community College. She was last employed by White Oak Manor in Shelby.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Luther Junior Johnson; stepfather, Earnest Parks; and grandmother, Listine Johnson.

Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are a daughter, Amanda Johnson of the home; two sons, Terry Johnson of Shelby and Larry Johnson of Lincolnton, N.C.; four grandchildren; grandfather, John Jefferies Sr. of Union; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Services will be held Saturday, July 31, at 2 p.m. at Maple Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert L. Dover officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at noon and the family will friends from 1:30 p.m. until the hour of the service.

The family is at the residence.
