Thomas Blanton

Retired from North Carolina Department of Transportation

POLKVILLE, N.C. – Thomas Eutoyc Blanton, 82, of 4411 Polkville Road, formerly of 2236 Hoey Church Road, Shelby, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2006, at his home.

Mr. Blanton was born in Cherokee County, S.C., a son of the late Saul David and Mamie Irene Blanton Blanton. He retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation after 30 years as a traffic light technician.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Roberts Blanton; three brothers, Dave, Frank and Ray Blanton; and a sister, Irene Camp.

Mr. Blanton is survived by a son, Billy Ray Blanton of Montgomery, Ala.; a daughter, Nancy Elliott of Polkville; two brothers, Paul Blanton of Belmont and Burel Blanton of Stoney Point; three sisters, Doris Holder of Belmont, Ruby Parris, both of Blacksburg, and Earlene Earls of Shelby; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services were held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Revs. David Lee and Cindy Coleman. Burial was in Cleveland Memorial Park

Visitation was held Saturday from 2-3 p.m. at Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston.
