Former commissioner seeks to reclaim seat

WARREN BONNER WARREN BONNER I, Warren H. Bonner, will be a candidate in the August election for the Gaffney Board of Public Works. I am seeking the District 4 seat that is currently held by Mrs. Brenda Earls. Mrs. Earls announced recently that she would not seek another term.

This election will be part of the Gaffney Municipal Election in August. I am now collecting signatures from 100 qualified electors in my district.

I have been in business in Gaffney for more than 50 years. During that time I have come to appreciate a solid local utility that keeps a focus on economic development. I’ve also learned that our utility must work just as hard to keep services affordable for everyone, especially for those on a fixed income. I believe if we look hard enough, we can trim the fat and bring these rates under control.

I have previously served on the BPW and I know that I can work well with the BPW staff and employees.

I am a graduate of Gaffney High School and attended Limestone College. I am married to the former Sarah England from Westminster who is a Limestone graduate. She has retired with 35 years experience with the Cherokee County School system. She served as a teacher at Central, West End and Luther L. Vaughan and as a principal at J. Paul Beam and Luther Vaughan.

We have two children – Warren Hugh Bonner Jr., who is an agent with LittlejohnBonner Insurance Company, and Bonnie Bonner Smith, a teacher at Grassy Pond Elementary School.

We also have two grandchildren. Sarah Jo Smith is a sixth grader at Granard Middle School and Luke Smith is a fourth grader at Grassy Pond.
